Seven nights among the volcanoes of the Araucanía
An all-inclusive ski week, based in Malalcahuello with two nights in a refuge at the foot of the Sollipulli volcano. We ski the resorts and the slopes of the Lonquimay, Llaima and Sollipulli volcanoes, with the option to add other iconic volcanoes in the region. For those who want more, there is powder among the trees of the Las Raíces range and a visit to the former Arenales ski area. It includes mountain guides from the area, a 4x4 vehicle that picks you up at Temuco airport and stays with you all week, breakfasts at the lodge, asados by our chef and dinners at the village restaurants, hot springs and a visit to a Pehuenche community.
The skiing
Corralco and Llaima, sidecountry among the araucarias and, if the snow allows, a summit.

Corralco has groomed runs and open bowls on the Lonquimay volcano, and the Llaima lift climbs to the plateau. From there we head into the sidecountry and the araucaria forests in powder. Camilo, the founder, plans each day around the snow and the group; in the field, the guide has the final word on safety. With good conditions, the week can end on a summit: Lonquimay, the most skiable; Sollipulli, the best first volcano on skins; or Llaima, only in the private week and for expert skiers.

Five nights at a lodge in Malalcahuello and two at a refuge at the foot of Sollipulli.

Five nights in a mountain lodge in Malalcahuello, with a hot tub, freshly roasted coffee and medialunas at breakfast. Dinners are the chef's asados and restaurants in the village. The last two nights, in a refuge at the foot of the Sollipulli volcano.
How to travel
A shared departure of up to 8 people or a private week for your group, from Temuco airport.

On the shared departure, up to 8 people travel in two groups of 4, each with its own mountain guide. The private week is the same week for your group or family, from 4 people with their own guide, on the dates you choose between July and August. We pick you up at Temuco airport in a 4x4 vehicle equipped for snow, with chains, which stays with us all week.
The week
Corralco, Lonquimay volcano.
A full day at the ski area with lift ticket included: groomed runs and open bowls, with a guide skiing alongside the group.
Llaima volcano.
We ride the lift at Ski Araucarias and skin from there toward the base of the cone. If the group and the snow allow it, we put on crampons and climb a little higher. From up there you can see the whole Araucanía.
Arenales, among the trees.
The old ski area of the Las Raíces range. We skin up and ski down through powder among araucarias.
Sollipulli volcano.
Two nights in a refuge at the foot of the volcano, with powder among the trees. If conditions allow, we climb to the crater rim: a caldera 4 km across with a huge glacier inside.
Hot springs at Manzanar.
After skiing, thermal pools a few kilometres from the lodge.
The chef's asado.
The chef opens the week with a welcome dinner and, mid-week, cooks an asado over the fire. The other nights we eat at restaurants in Malalcahuello.

Questions
Is it right for my level? +
If you ski red runs comfortably in any snow and want to try off-piste, yes. You don't need touring experience: the first day on the resort lets us get to know the group, and the guide shows you how to use skins before the first climb.
What gear do I bring? +
Your ski clothing, helmet, goggles and your touring gear: a week on your own gear is far more enjoyable. If you're missing anything, we put it together and add it to your quote.
What if the weather doesn't cooperate? +
That's what flex days are for. We head out to explore the Pehuenche valleys or ski backcountry laps in the trees, with the vehicle always close by. There are rest days with hot springs, a shared asado cooked slowly over the fire, cultural visits and mate. At night, pisco sour, a guitar and a fire at the refuge.

We are family, friends and the ski community that grew out of the Club de Montaña Nahuelbuta.
Every off-piste day is led by an ANGM mountain guide in ski-guide training, in charge of assessing avalanche risk and terrain and of responding to emergencies.

Our Guides & Community
Born in Nahuelbuta
Nawel means jaguar in Mapudungun, and Nahuelbuta, the range where we grew up, means great jaguar. We move like it: agile and alert to the terrain, with strength when it is needed.
At the Club de Montaña Nahuelbuta we learned to ski from one another, and today we are a ski community.
The Araucanía is home.
Ski with Purpose.
Our founder spent three months volunteering with Mundo Novo in Rio de Janeiro, working with kids from the communities. There he saw how time outdoors can change the course of someone's life. That is why US$100 of every booking goes to the Youth Mountain Program, which aims to give Mapuche and local kids technical training and access to the mountains, so they can build their future there without having to leave. In Lonquimay we work with local guides and Pehuenche communities, and we want the program to reach the schools in the area.
